Author Diane deGroat’s website has word searches, coloring pages, and more (click on Fun Stuff to find these printable pages). On the Fun Stuff page, at the top, click on Classroom Connections to find examples of classroom projects using her books, and color photographs of examples. She has written over 130 books for children.
The book Liar, Liar Pants on Fire, is about children at school making up patriotic plays as assigned by their teacher. The main character Gilbert wants to be the cherry tree so he won’t have to speak in the play, but draws a slip of paper with the name George Washington. After some turmoil, everything turns out well.
