STARS BENEATH YOUR BED: The Surprising Story of Dust
by April Pulley Sayre, picture by Ann Jonas
While looking for more seasonal books at the library, I came across this book about dust. Well, it may not be that interesting but the title is attention getting to say the least, Stars Beneath Your Bed. I thought maybe I could look at dust differently when cleaning. Hey, if I am sweeping up cosmic dust, that helps me be more motivated to clean. Maybe, anyway. Well, for a day or two? Would you believe for one coffee table? I read the book and learned that dust in my house may be from dinosaurs, volcanoes, myself, zebras rolling in dirt and more! That certainly makes dust more interesting. Like the water cycle, there is a dust cycle that is changed on a daily basis and is what makes sunsets differ each evening. Really! I had heard of cosmic dust, seen how volcano ash changes the sky, and so on but I have never really thought that much about dust until today. So, children would like to read this book because it is full of big thoughts and facts they can surprise people with, which of course they love to do. I made an interactive Power Point to share with children as it seemed more appealing than making a dusty worksheet. dust facts and information Power Point, interactive, FREE
Happy dusting,

I’m adding this one to my wish list for my future classroom library! It sounds fascinating!
