This page is devoted to nature videos. I like to make short videos of animals who live in our woods–when they show up and I’m paying attention. Scroll down for photos.

He’s back! The Pileated Woodpecker has been visiting since winter, often about 6 AM! HUMMINGBIRDS up close
Male Goldfinch eating:
Who is that knocking, knocking, knocking at my door? http://youtu.be/RtS1BdfBi34 This Pileated Woodpecker has been visiting often this winter, and is spending time trying to break into the Owl’s House. Listen to hear it sounds like a jackhammer. We know right away when it visits by the sound. Actually, the owl’s house is still unused, and this is probably the reason. The Pileated Woodpecker stays in northern Minnesota all winter, and is probably doing this when we are not at the cabin. Poor owl! My husband calls the woodpecker, “Fat Cat Banker” because it appears he is trying to foreclose on the owl house. Pileated Woodpecker Information: The male’s red “mustache” is black and the females have a black forehead. These large pre-historic looking woodpeckers make nest holes in large trees.
